Harambe who was shot dead in 2016 has been proclaimed a saint by Pope Francis in a ceremony at the Vatican. Pope Francis said “Harambe died for our sins, he protected the weak and was struck down while protecting a child, I can think of no greater individual who is more deserving of being canonised”
Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims attended the canonisation in St Peter’s Square of the late Harambe, who will now be known as Saint Harambe of Cincinnati. Harambe was born Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas, on May 27, 1999 and is currently the youngest person or gorilla to ever be declared a saint.
Plans for a massive Cathedral in Cincinatti to Harambe have been drawn up, the gilded marble structure will cost upwards of five billion US Dollars and is expected to contain a fifty foot high stature of the gorilla cradling a child while weeping into an American flag.
